NZ Oregon is easily identified by the by the prominence of growth ring bands between the early and latewood, it’s pale pinkish coloured heartwood and near-white sapwood.
NZ grown Oregon was first available in the 1940’s, originating from the United States. Today, about 113,000 ha is grown mainly in the South Island.
NZ Oregon is popular for timber framing, posts, beams, fencing, weatherboard and pergolas.
